meitantei-konan:Today officially marks 25 years of Detective Conan –– On this day, exactly 25 years ago, Aoyama Gosho - back then at the age of 30 - had his detective manga series Detective Conan serialized in Shogakukan’s Weekly Shounen Sunday.Back then, he did not know that this series would become one of the longest-running, fourth-best-selling manga in 25 countries worldwide; a series which would also be adapted into many other forms of art.The story of the high school detective Kudou Shinichi, who has been forced to live under the pseudonym Edogawa Conan due to a shrinking drug, has ever since captured the hearts of millions of people. He shared his knowledge with all of us by solving cases that seemed unsolvable; mysteries that seemed unexplainable. While his age remained the same, the series itself turned 25 today– still, his search for truth has not ended yet. Today, Detective Conan counts 1026 chapters, 295 cases, 96 volumes, 27 anime seasons, 928 episodes, 22 movies, and several live-action adaptions, games and other merchandise. We want to celebrate this special anniversary with each and everyone of you–may it be those, that were there since the beginning, or those that have just found their way into this world. There is no appointed time for this event– it starts today and continues throughout the whole year. As always, remember the rules, and do not use works of others. It is not common – and much less easy – to experience the development of a series for such a long period of time. But diligence, commitment, and an undying longing for truth, education and knowledge belong to the most valuable worths and acts of humankind. To say it in the words Sherlock Holmes: “Education never ends. It is a series of lessons, with the greatest for the last.” –– times are changing; change is inevitable, but let us all make it a change for the better, just like this series has taught us. -- source link
