i finished Final Fantasy IX earlier this weekthis game’s been on my to-do list since forever, but i could never quite find the time. when C19 hit and my work schedule changed, though, i suddenly had time i could commit to playing a game like this on a regular basis… so i gave it a go. i didn’t play with the intention of doing any of the longform analysis i used to do on this blog- as a matter of fact, i didn’t take screens or keep any notes at all. i played it more or less purely, enjoying each moment as it came, streaming the experience on Discord for some friends of mine who are big FFIX fansit wasn’t what i expected. i’d always heard about how good FFIX was, the fans of it are quite vocal… but i’d never heard any arguments for exactly why it was so good. having now experienced it, i couldn’t really articulate it myself. it’s a story with so much feeling, and so much to say. the persistence of hope, the transient nature of life, bonds of friendship vs bonds of fealty, predestination, purpose and lack thereof…i named the princess SHOTGUN. -- source link
