wangxianficrecs:Follower RecsStories I haven’t read yet, but clearly need to put on my ever-expanding List.~*~Anon: hi hi hi can we rec fics here? if so i’m going to rec “To tread upon solid ground,” it’s a really short sweet complete Royal AU with Wei Wuxian as a bodyguard to Emperor LWJ!To Tread Upon Solid Groundby stiltonbasket (G, 7k, wangxian)Summary: When an attempted assassination leaves Lan Xichen unable to fulfill his duties as emperor, he retires from court life and surrenders the throne to his sixteen-year-old brother, Lan Wangji. To no one’s surprise, the throne comes with a bonus imperial bodyguard: Wei Wuxian.~*~Anon: hello idk if you take follower recs but if u do i gotta rec other earths and skies by binghecarer bc it is a BANGERother earths and skiesby binghecarer (T, 54k, wangxian)Summary: Wei Wuxian would have thought that the dragon’s voice would rattle the trees, shake the earth with its force. Instead, his voice is small and a little raspy. He speaks slowly, as if it is difficult to speak at all.“I accept….your offer,” he says painfully. “You know….the price? No leaving…until this season comes again…do you understand?”Wei Wuxian doesn’t feel fully in his body as he nods. “Yes.”—Increasingly desperate, Wei Wuxian turns to unconventional means to help the Wens. If one can call trading away a year of his life to live in a secluded estate with a mountain spirit ‘unconventional’. Or, the ‘east of the sun, west of the moon’ one.~*~@justaliteralidiot: Hey, I wanted to rec a fic if possible? It’s called I’ll run to your side by phnelt and it is a MASTERPIECE. Really short but but I’ve never read anything quite like it in this fandomI’ll Run to Your Sideby phnelt (G, wangxian, 5k)Summary: Wei Ying also understands that sometimes the need to move overwhelms his husband. Lan Zhan is a man with a depth in him that runs to the centre of the earth. He can’t stay among the clouds. ~*~@aliasblack73: I wholeheartedly recommend Brilliant Mistake by brooklinegirl. I just read it and my heart is full of how romantic and softe it is. The gist is that modern au WWX gets hit with sex pollen curse, LWJ helps him out, but the curse also makes WWX pregnant. It honestly has much less angst than you would think. There’s pining, but it’s gentle, with the circumstances sweeping them along like a wave to their inevitable conclusion.Brilliant Mistakeby brooklinegirl (E, 54k, wangxian)Summary: “Fine,” Wen Qing says, turning back to Wei Ying. “You’re pregnant.”Lan Zhan feels his mouth drop open and has to work to shut it.Wei Ying reacts not at all. He’s swinging his feet where he’s sitting on the table, a bored expression on his face.Wen Qing just looks at him. “I am not joking about that.”Wei Ying stops swinging his feet. He blinks several times in a row. “Wait,” he says.Or:I woke up at 3AM and sent myself an email that just said:Modern cultivation friends curse sexy pollen hook up desperate WWX gets pregnantAnd then I wrote it. In three weeks. IDK.~*~Anon: If you haven’t seen it, I HAVE to recommend to you “out in the garden, there’s things you hid away” by saltyfeathers. I just finished it today and it was so beautiful and so painful. I wasn’t sure I’d survive it but I did, and maybe your followers will too!out in the garden, there’s things you hid awayby saltyfeathers (E, 121k, wangxian)Summary: There is a man with empty eye sockets and tears of fire in Wei Wuxian’s dreams. Tendrils of smoke curl around him in sleep, pressing at his most vulnerable spots, seeking entrance, slipping between his ribs. When he ignores Lan Zhan’s offers of help, he declines rapidly. He will die. Or, he should. Anyone else would.Instead, he flees. And transforms.~*~Anon: Hello, thank you for your blog!! I love your cover images :) I wanted to suggest Only Fools Rush In by justpeace; it’s a college au that takes place in America with lots of feelings about being Chinese-American in different ways, and it’s very cute! Features lwj as a grader for his professor brother and a senior wwx that just needs this Asian American Studies class to graduate.Only Fools Rush Inby justpeace (T, 23k, wangxian)Summary: Wei Ying thinks he’s going to meet a younger version of Professor Lan, since they’re brothers- gently smiling, a little sad way back somewhere, smart as a whip and just a touch gullible, but instead he meets a drop dead gorgeous sonovabitch who refuses to make more than cursory eye contact and has about as much empathy in him as a brick fucking wall.In which Wei Ying is forced to take AAS100: Intro to Asian American Studies to graduate. He has a cruelly strict grader, and his only hope of passing the class is attending extra credit movie nights in a ridiculous dorm with 3,000 rules.Or: I watched a Chinese piece of media, promptly had a whole pile of feelings about being Chinese-American, and dumped them into a fanfiction.~*~Anon: I was wondering if you’ve read “I Want You Always” by slpydana on AO3? I liked it a lot when I read it and I’d love to hear your thoughts on it.I Want You Alwaysby slpydananot rated, 7k, wangxianSummary: Wangji settled Wuxian down before sitting himself next to him and handing over some lettuce leaves, before carefully grabbing two of the braver rabbits, one black and the other white, and setting them in Wuxian’s lap. Next to him, Wuxian cooed as they ate the proffered greens. Wuxian used his free hand to scratch at the white one’s ear. Huddled in his lap, the white rabbit allowed the black one to take most of the food, occasionally pushing more towards it. He sighed contentedly when Wangji settled closer to him. Bodies pressed together in a sort of familiarity that spoke loads of the trust Wangji held for Wuxian. The casual comfort between them always made Wuxian’s heart swell. As always, he was reminded of how fortunate and lucky he was to have Wangji on his side. Wuxian lifted his eyes from the bunnies in his lap to the man next to him, watching as he fed the other bunnies. A feeling bubbled in his heart, a brief thought of I want this always, as he settled back a little more comfortable.~*~@ionicirelia: Idk if you do fic recs but if you haven’t readI Started From the Bottom/And Now I’m Rich by x_los, you def should. It’s AMAZINGI Started From the Bottom/And Now I’m Richby x_los (E, 58k, wei wuxian x everybody)Summary: “First, you get the money. Then you get the power, respect - hos come last.”Wen Qing traps Wei Wuxian in the Demon Slaughtering Cave, but Wei Wuxian isn’t interested in being the beneficiary of the Wen Remnants’ noble sacrifice. His efforts to free himself accidentally send him back to the beginning of the Sunshot Campaign. Coreless but armed with demonic cultivation, knowledge of the future and his wits, Wei Wuxian takes advantage of this opportunity to come out on top of both the war and its aftermath—before either has a chance to happen—by marrying and swiftly burying the cultivation world’s worst men.Lan Wangji is confused, hurt, and uncomfortably aroused by Wei Wuxian’s improbably elaborate series of Sect-themed bridal negligees.*** Mojo’s Note: Does this have a wangxian endgame, does anyone know? How much focus is on the other wwx slash relationships? It looks safe for a wangxian shipper, but I’d just like to be sure.ETA: [possible spoilers]: @sleepyandweepyandtired says it is definitely wangxian endgame and tbh pretty wangxian heavy even when wwx is technically off black widowing other men. It’s also pretty hilarious. Oh and the other “relationships” … really aren’t. They are blatant political manoeuvring (and unconsummated). ***~*~@planb-is-in-effect: I would also recommend “Paint Smears on Sunny Days,” by SnowshadowA03. It is pure, angst-less fluff of art teacher WWX and composer and single father LWJ, getting together.paint smears on sunny daysby SnowshadowAO3 (E, 54k, wangxian)Summary: To say that he runs to his car would be incorrect, as he is a Lan, and running is both undignified and unnecessary unless in immediate danger. Nor does he slam his key into the ignition, or aggressively swerve around the cars on the freeway, or have a mild panic attack at the fact he is picking A-Yuan up late from school for the first time ever.He comes close, though.By the time he arrives, it’s 4:35PM, and he has imagined about fifty different worse-case scenarios. The door is partly open when he gets to it, a messy label of 104B—Art Room scrawled with chalk on a placard next to the faded wood. As he opens it fully, he expects to see a wailing, terrified child, or perhaps a scene of utter misery and betrayal. What he finds is his son, hands covered in paint, being sung to by a beautiful, dark-haired stranger.“Ducks live in the pond, yellow ducks, happy ducks!”Lan Wangji stops in his tracks.(Or: Falling in love with your son’s art teacher, in five parts) -- source link
