paraparadigm:So Ryl somehow got ahold of the Gith artifact that Shadowheart normally plays with, which is totally not a phylactery, but IS polyhedral in shape (as Larian never tires of reminding us). It doesn’t open, but it has a heartbeat, and a presence inside it.But here’s an interesting little detail: there’s an Arcana check to identify it, which doesn’t lend much (it’s covered in runes confirming that it’s indeed Gith… but we knew that). Giving it to Lae’Zel and running through the sequence lends no new insights either, it’s the same animation. But then I remembered that an Arcana check is also required to identify the runes that surround Shadowheart’s pod on the Nautiloid. Circumstantial of course, but considering Shadowheart is the one who has this thing in her possession, and keeps trying to open it; the voice on the Nautiloid promised her she’ll become a beautiful weapon; AND the Gith patrol is looking for a weapon stolen from them.We have…Shadowheart + Totally Not a Phylactery = weaponized Shadowheart possessed by whatever is inside the box then turned into an illithid? Was that the plan for her on the Nautiloid?Though the true mystery is how the hell did Ryl managed to nab it. Rogues are really overpowered in this game -- source link
