gunsngear:NYPD Officer Walter Weaver, gave his life eleven years ago. September 11, 2001 was a beautiful clear day in New York City before two terrorist-commandeered aircraft slammed into the sides of the World Trade Towers. Officer Weaver, normally with a Bronx Emergency Services Unit, was last seen on the 6th floor of the North Tower, helping extricate people trapped in an elevator inside. His warped and twisted Smith & Wesson Model 642, his backup revolver, was later found in the rubble at Ground Zero. Traced by serial number, this stainless .38 Special was returned to his family, who decided that Walter Weaver’s handgun might best tell its story in the NRA’s National Firearms Museum. We are posting this very special GUN OF THE DAY at 8:46am, the exact time the North Tower of the World Trade Center was struck by American Airlines Flight 11, to honor Officer Weaver and the nearly 3,000 other individuals who died in the Twin Towers, the Pentagon and Pennsylvania. -- source link
