regnum-plantae:A break at the -ghost- farmI spent the 26th of December with the paternal side of my family and during lunch, between the last course and dessert, some of us went to the place you see above. It’s a corner of a large, disused farm where a relative I call uncle has been keeping poultry and a vegetable garden for years in accord with the late owners. Unfortunately nobody is currently living on the estate as the last elderly resident passed away recently, living nobody to make use of the space. We first of all cut up and loaded in the car boot some wood for the fireplace -I hadn’t seen this part coming when a visit to the farm was mentioned, but I actually love hands-on work so was quite happy with it!. We then went around and i could photograph the beautiful chickens and pheasants (Phasianus colchicus, female with chicks visible in the fourth small photo in the background) and the compact cabbage patch. We even found an egg that my little cousin got to take home. I wish I had more of this in my life! -- source link
