badassqueerbabe:smitethepatriarchy:undeadwill:onlyblackgirl:dj-froge:sixpenceee:First Human X-ray 1896. The woman, Marie Curie, who took part in this experiment had so many X-rays taken that she developed a form of blood cancer and died.Took part? TOOK PART????? SHE FUCKIN INVENTED THAT SHIT WITH HER BAE (that’s pierre curie)! Please don’t erase her enormous contributions and sacrifices to science by reducing her to some fuckin test subject k thanks. Women always being erased. She took part in the experiment. She was a both the lead researcher and one of the test subjects. She isn’t being erased, op just didn’t tell us something that should be common fucking knowledge. “should be common fucking knowledge” gee I wonder why it’s not, hmmmmmm.Other things that are not common knowledge about Marie Curie: her research was stolen by two men and they received a noble prize for her work. Her contribution is mentioned as a footnote when this is taught about in American schools. I was literally taught that she didn’t get the noble prize because these other men presented their work first and just happened to be working separately on the exact same thing as she was at the same time. In reality, they stole her work and presented it as their own. -- source link
