americanwizarding:The Fur-Bearing Trout One of the many magical creatures native to the American wilds that came to the attention of Muggle explorers, the fur-bearing trout is native to the frigid waters of Canada and the northern United States. The trout is easily identifiable by its thick coat of fur, which, when harvested, has a variety of magical uses. Trout fur can be woven into extremely warm articles of clothing that are resistant to frost based magics. It is also useful in potions that allow normally air-breathing mammals to breath underwater for short periods of time.Despite these magical traits, the fur-bearing trout seems otherwise normal, showing neither advanced intelligence or traits otherwise abnormal to other fish species. Had Wizardkind not actually taken the time and effort to hide the creature’s existence from Muggles they might not actually have to. Even frogs, after all, have uses in potions in spells, but no one has ever suggested attempting to disguise the common bullfrog from the non-magical population of the world. Now the DSO has had to take steps similar to those deployed against the Jackalope. -- source link
