germanaustriannoblesandroyals:Minor nobles (2/?): Marie Karoline von Fuchs-MollardWhile in the English speaking world, Maria Theresa’s governess is known by the name of Marie Karoline of Fuchs-Mollard, her common German name is (Maria) Karoline but she is also referred to as Karolina. However, she was commonly called Charlotte and Füchsin (Vixen) by the Archduchess. However, she was born as a minor noble to Franz Maximilian von Mollard, the chamberlain and owner of Palais Mollard, and his wife Katharina von Seeau.Marie Karoline came to the imperial court as lady-in-waiting of the future queen consort of Portugal, Maria Anna of Austria. In 1710, she married Christoph Ernst von Fuchs zu Bimbach, who only five years prior had been raised to the status of an Imperial Count. With him she had two daughters, one of them would become Princess Maria Josefa of Teano. She was widowed in 1719.In 1728, she became the governess to Archduchess Maria Theresa and her sister Maria Anna who were 11 and 10 at the time. Karoline and Maria Theresa would share a lifelong deeply committed friendship. When the Archduchess became the ruler of Austria, Karoline rose in rank too. She became the Lady High Stewart of the Viennese court. Unlike often in history, Karoline and Maria’s husband Franz Joseph got along very well. He would even seek advice from the “dear old one”. The Countess is the only non-Habsburg to be burried in the Austrian Imperial Crypt in Vienna. Her burial there was personally ordered by the Empress including a writing on her burial place in which Maria Theresa thanks her old governess.//Cast: Julia Stemberger as Maria Karolina von Fuchs-Mollard in Maria Theresia (2017) -- source link
