“Where is God?”That was the central question of Demiana in the first few visits Open Doors ministry partners made to her. Nobody would blame her for that question, seeing her circumstances: her husband died of cancer because they had no money for treatment, her children had stopped school for the same reason, and her two sons (6 and 9) worked in the local bakery to support the family.Helping Demiana with her financial issues was the easiest part of the journey with her. Helping her heal emotionally and trust God again - that took more time. Some visits involved just listening. Every visit ended with prayer. Demiana needed to understand she was never alone.Widows are stigmatized in Egyptian society and, because of their status, are vulnerable to becoming victims of persecution.
