Lena Katina’s interview for MyCity.Lena Katina: “Experience is priceless and I am so thankful for it.”Scandalous performances with kisses on stage, short plaid skirts, and innocent school girl gazes - all of this is gone. Now, the same red-head from t.A.T.u., Lena Katina, is firstly a loving wife and thoughtful mother who lives with her family far across the ocean with a successful solo career. On the eve of her performance in Frankfurt on the 12th anniversary of the popular club Parliament Lena shared her thoughts about the past, reality, and the future with MyCity readers.Europe met Lena Katina during Eurovision 2003 in Riga where t.A.T.u. received 3rd place. We still remember how much speculation there was around your performance: everyone was afraid of a scandal and provocative behavior from the sweet girls with the black 1’s on their white t-shirts. After a long period you are heading to Europe again, into Germany. What can we expect from the concert?I am anxiously awaiting this concert - I have not performed in Germany in a long time and I hope that the crowd and I receive a lot of joy form the songs and from one another. I regret that I cannot stay in Germany longer this time. I am a mom and all of my trips are very short. There is little time for excursions. We’ll get back to music. In your repertoire you have songs in Russian and even albums in English and Spanish. Which language is it easier for you to get your message across to listeners? In Russian, of course. But English has become almost native as well, so I don’t feel a huge difference.Your biography contains experience with movies - in the drama You and I you played yourself when you were a part of t.A.T.u. Now you are at an arm’s reach from Hollywood. Do you dream of continuing your acting career?Honestly, I don’t really see myself as an actress. I will not deny, however, that if there are interesting offers and a good director that I could try putting myself into that world. At such a young age not many people can brag of such a big and rich life which you’ve had. If given the opportunity to jump into a time machine to change a time in your life, which would it be? Which year would you go back to?None! I am happy with my lie. Experience is priceless and I am so thankful for it.It has been two years since you have become a mother, raising Alexander and protecting him form journalists. Do you and your husband want him to follow your footsteps and devote himself to music and the stage?I am very afraid that he will want to follow our footsteps, but I will not interfere in any way. You have to love what you do. If I see that he has a talent in music I will only support him. But I would like to see him in a different profession.Even after giving birth you are still taking a break. Have you decided to completely devote yourself to your family or are you planning on returning to work on your project? Maybe during this time you have found yourself in something completely different?I will soon come back from my break and resume working on my solo project. Amongst this, of course, I will try to devote a lot of time to my family. That is paramount for me.Should your devoted native fans be waiting for music in Russian to come out in the near future or is it time to start learning English and SpanishThere will definitely be songs in Russian and very soon. There will be songs in English also, but currently I have fully concentrated on Russian material. What about new duets? Your last one with T-Killah is still being played. That was an excellent duet. We will see what will be. But firstly I would like to release my solo EP.What is your bedside book?Julia Gippenreiter - Communicating With a Child. How?A talisman that is always with you?My cross, but it is hard to call it a talisman.Your life motto?Be yourself and try to see only the best in people! -- source link
