But you know, this encapsulates a lot of my problems with marriage and not just marriage per se but the trappings of it: the wedding, the white dress, the engagement ring, the proposal, and so on. I realize lots of people like it and they have every right to: but it’s represented SO OFTEN in media I’d love to see an alternative scenario, yknow? And bones could have done it, but chose not to. For me so often it’s not the shipping, the romance, or the RST that ruins pairings, but the patriarchal, heteronormative trappings.
