mister-christmas:eric-coldfire:mister-christmas:gservator:sighinastorm:julianamoonart:What, like it’s hard?My projections place its final domestic take between Guardians v2 and Iron Man 3, at 400 million.>With no competition in the Box OfficeI mean, there was Lego Movie 2 but it had been out for a while by that point. There were also reports of Disney paying select theaters to play nothing but Captain Marvel. Disney buying tickets to inflate sales because Captain Marvel had a 70% drop during the second week of release. So yeah, Captain Marvel proves that female lead movies can be successful. All they need is no competition, censored negative criticism, paid for positive reviews, and financial backing to cover ticket sales when audiences lose interest. Oh yeah, I forgot about that. It had a really hard drop off on the second week, didn’t it? Like harder than any previous MCU movie I think. No, the dropoff is consistent (so far) with those two other movies I mentioned. I was the first person, following its premier, to say “lets’s hang on and see the second weekend returns”. I doubt it will do as well internationally as GOTG2 and IM3. I’m not saying it’s good or bad or that anyone should do or feel anything; I’m just attending the numbers. If it’s substantiated that Disney is buying their own tickets, it seems investors should be irate. Buying out whole theaters ssounds eems like malarkey, though. They’ve strongarmed theater owners plenty, but those are their own businesses. -- source link
