skania:This scene is a thing of beauty. This entire episode is a thing of beauty, but the way Hei projects himself into Kenji here— the way he looks at Kenji for answers to questions he has started to ask himself about Yin — is fantastic.I love how understated it is. I love that the show doesn’t bring attention to it, doesn’t even bother including Yin in the scene. It trusts that the viewers will catch onto it and that they won’t dismiss it, because the emotional weight of Hei’s and Yin’s relationship is spelled out right here in this very scene. It’s incredible that throughout the entire Season, Hei never, ever, puts his feelings for Yin into words. We never get a voice-over, anything that might put into context the way he feels about Yin. Yet it’s not necessary, because this scene exists. Because this entire episode exists.I’ve loved this conversation from the very first moment I watched it and it’s stuck with me ever since. Now that I’m re watching it years later, the scene is even more amazing — it completely foreshadows Hei’s future with Yin as depicted in the OVA.If the writers mapped this scene thinking that far ahead (and it does feel like they did), hats off to them.… now that you mention it… -- source link
