unwillingadventurer:30 Days of Summer Time Doctor Who- Day 4- Who has been your favorite historical appearance?Marco Polo“Our route takes us across the roof of the world, down to the Kashgar Valley and southeast to Yarkand. Here, we join the Old Silk Road, along which the commerce and culture of a thousand years has travelled to and from Cathay. I wonder…what the stranger’s reaction will be when I tell them what I propose to do?”Our favourite is Doctor Who’s first historical figure in the seven part serial of the same name. Mark Eden is wonderful as the explorer, and even though we can’t technically see it (because sadly it’s still missing), we’ve visualised it in our heads so many times because of the beautiful recons, the surviving audio, and lovely colour photos. The character is well explored, his quest to get home mirrors our travellers perfectly, and despite the fact the story is missing he still remains an absolute favourite. If they ever find the Marco Polo serial we’ll be doing this: -- source link
