30 Days of Doctor WhoDay One: Who was your first Doctor? That’s a bit of a complicated question! I grew up watching Doctor Who in the 1980s. My Mum had been a fan since the show began, so it was always on in our house. I have distinct memories of watching Tom Baker’s final adventure, Logopolis, when I was four years old, so in a sense he was my first Doctor - he was also my Mum’s favourite, so when serials began to be released on VHS, we tended to collect more of his than any other, and I got to know him well.I also have distinct memories of watching the Fifth and Sixth Doctor, as I grew a little older. Whatever his face, the Doctor was always there, part of the fabric of my childhood. But I think my first real Doctor, the Doctor I’d have to call ‘mine’, was Sylvester McCoy’s Seventh Doctor, who came along when I was 10 years old and at just the perfect age to be properly enraptured by the show. He is the Doctor I remember best from my childhood, with his Scottish burr and his enigmatic ways and the wonderful Ace always at his side. -- source link
