The blessed sword of king Jan III SobieskiDated: 1675-76, made in Rome. Blade made of steel, partialy gilted with gold. Scription refering to pope Innocent XI, with a date 1676. Hilt and sheath made of gilted silver with symbols of pope Clement X.This sword, along with a blessed hat (shown in the second picture), was given to polish king, Jan III Sobieski, in Żółkiew in 1684, as a sign of recognition of his defence of Christendom against Turkish invasion and his great victory in Battle of Vienna in previous year.
