drtanner-art:So hey, it’s been like a month since I posted any art but HERE’S A NEW GUY FOR YOU FOLKS TO MEET, he doesn’t have a name but he’s an industrial robot designed specifically for rough or uneven terrain where common bipedal machines might struggle. (He’ll get some colours too, eventually, but you’re welcome to colour him in the meantime if you want to, as long as you show me when you’re done!)You can generally expect to see these guys on and around building and demolition sites, where the unstable footing can be difficult or dangerous for less robust robots. His large body also provides room for ample chemical data storage, which is important given that much of his work involves parsing and relaying complex and detailed engineering maps and diagrams, and his short but strong tail can, when needed, cover his rear (primary) port to protect it from potential damage in unsafe work areas. It should be noted that the 4077-J only has something that looks somewhat like a face because it’s a convenient place for his optic sensors to be for maximum visual range. He does, however, also have an array of sensors of various kinds on his forelimbs, sides and rump to help him perceive his surroundings, which is particularly pertinent given the sometimes unsafe nature of the sites he’s often found working on (and to help him avoid bumping into or stepping on his human handlers, which, given his great size and weight, would be pretty disastrous).Whilst his type are usually brought in for the purpose of reading and processing those aforementioned engineering maps - and doing so much more quickly and accurately than human engineers or builders could - they’re sometimes also tasked with site security. If his intimidating stature isn’t enough to deter a would-be intruder, the 4077-J is more than capable of safely removing more or less anyone from the premises with ease. All in all, he’s a very good and multi-talented fellow. ( b ._.)b Don’t forget, I drew this. -- source link
