If you concentrate on what you don’t have, you will never, ever have enough.” - Years ago, I used to work at the Disney store every December. It was a promo gig. I used to get commissioned for every credit card that I could get people to sign up for. I made A LOT of money….. Yet, it also changed my entire view of Christmas. The people that signed up most often, were folks deep in debt….. They would ask me things like, “If my credit is bad, will they still give me a card?” “ I have 20 cards maxed out, but my kids need presents” “I don’t make a lot of money, but it is Christmas, can I use the card immediately to buy gifts?” “Can I get two? I dont have any money.” - I left work often upset and conflicted (I think about it often)… As an adult, I stopped buying gifts. I still put up a tree every year, listen to Christmas tunes and binge on Christmas movies…. but I no longer participate in the commercialism of the holiday. How do you guys spend the holidays? What does “Christmas” mean to you? (at Rochester, New York)https://www.instagram.com/p/BrqsznzHdUE/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1quaaq7v1di26 -- source link
