In the original story, there were three balls, and therefore 3 dresses; one gold, one silver and one pink. The blue is beautiful, but I always found the silver the most enchanting, as not only will it contrast with the bright colours of the other attendee’s, but it is the colour of the starlight and diamonds embodied in the Glass Slippers. the silver is therefore interspersed into the black lace top layer, in the form of sequins and crystals. The lace represents the mystery of this girl; where there is so much more to her than just being a servant girl. The corset belt also represent her previous constriction, as well as her time limit, but it also is related to the fashions of the time, whilst still being modern. There are no petticoats underneath the iridescent silk body, except a another, loose silk underskirt, so it just floats and shimmers gently, uplifted by her dancing. This is the dress I would want to wear to the ball, and I think Ella would too.
