arctic-hands:alwaysbewoke:i-hate-chick-fil-a:Exactly!!! *Insert “all lives matter” example*I’ve grown to hate “positivity culture” because what it actually is is supression. Nothing remotely negative is allowed to be said and ergo any mentions of problems or flaws become silenced instead of handled. It’s actually super toxic and not “positive” at allsooo glad there’s a name for this bullshit. [Image Description: first image: a billboard on top of a building featuring Baltimore’s then-mayor Jack Young, a middle aged, bald Black man in glasses. The billboard has been mostly painted black, sparing only Young’s face. On white are the words “Cancel rent and fuck the police”, with the antifa arrows and “FTP” written off to the sides.Second image: the billboard vandalized to say “Cancel hate and thank the police” with the antifa arrows covered by something that I can’t read on a mobile screen, and the “FTP” replaced with “+BCFD”Third image: an initial tweet by Stuart Schrader, verified, @ STSchrader1, on May 4, 2020. It says “Yesterday versus today. What will tomorrow bring?” with the two photos beneath. In reply, Cynthia, @ BigBronxEnergy, said “This is a perfect example of ~positivity culture~ being used to erase actual issues within our communities.” End ID]I just want everyone to know that that billboard used to be a memorial to Freddie Gray before politicians (starting with larry hogan in 2018) started plastering their mugs on it. -- source link
