smithsonianlibraries:Up for a baking challenge this holiday season? Why not try the gingerbread recipe from James Smithson’s family cookbook? We’ve recently digitized the original cookbook, Hannah Glasse’s The art of cookery made plain and easy (1770). And in 2011, one intrepid staff member made the recipe and offered tips on our blog. Give it a whirl if you have a little extra time (and some treacle!). Those were not rolled round like nuts. -- source link
