Popeye model sheets (and Bluto, Olive, and Wimpy), from Famous Studios, which grew out of Fleischer Studios. The designs were perhaps more appealing, but the shorts themselves lost some of their punch, their craziness. They became a formula.The design guide pretty much was: make Bluto more imposing, and rough; Olive should be more attractive; and soften Popeye’s ugly visage. -- source link
