sincerely-nadine:23rd November 1499.Perkin Warbeck is drawn on a hurdle through the streets of London and hanged at Tyburn.Warbeck had led a rebellion against Henry VII under the identity of Richard of Shrewsbury, Duke of York, second son of Edward IV and Elizabeth Woodville.His true identity has remained a mystery. Whether he was Richard or one of Edward IV’s illegitimate children or just a poor Flemish man with a noble sponsor.When faced with the Royal Army his rebellion dissolved and he was captured and held at the Tower until he confessed to being an imposter, then he was allowed to stay at court. Becoming close to Elizabeth of York, Queen Consort, who would be his elder sister if he was Richard. He escaped and was imprisoned in the Tower again along side, Edward, Earl of Warwick son of George, Duke of Clarence and Isabella Neville.He tried to escape again and with Edward. Their plot failed and Edward was executed at Tower Hill as a nobles. Warbeck was treated as a common criminal and was forced to publicly confess to being an imposter before being hanged. -- source link
