avidbeader:I want to talk about this exchange for a minute. I’ve seen a few other people mention how this shows that Kuron has Shiro’s memories or shows that Kuron loves Keith, too.And while I don’t dispute either of those things, I don’t think that’s what happens here. Just before this moment, Keith had finally started to fight harder, looking to disable “Shiro” in some way instead of just playing defense or subduing him. He’s got his full blade out and has gotten into a strong enough attack mode that we get what I believe is the first glimpse of the Galra eyes. Keith has enough momentum and ferocity going that he’s momentarily managed to pin Kuron down. And Kuron goads him, probably referring to the times in their past when Keith would let his temper get the better of him, getting into fights like we saw in that short flashback from the Garrison. Kuron sounds pleased and proud to see this happening. But it snaps Keith out of his berserker mode because the Shiro that Keith remembers would not have encouraged this. The Shiro Keith remembers would have gone with “patience yields focus”. He tried to help Keith find ways to deal with those negative emotions: as Joaquim Dos Santos said in what I think was a NYCC 2017 interview, Shiro helps calm Keith down and retreat from the volatile, Galra-driven emotions. Lauren Montgomery pointed out in the same exchange that those emotions are exacerbated in early Season 3 because of Shiro’s absence.I think Kuron was trying to push Keith into fighting even harder, to make him so angry that he’d make a mistake that Kuron could take advantage of in order to kill him. But it was Kuron’s mistake, because (1) even though Kuron temporarily disarms him, Keith regains his self-control and (2) this is a pretty big indicator to Keith that this isn’t the Shiro he knows. -- source link
