katiecrenshaw: katiecrenshaw: As you know, my best friend of 15 years passed away in December. After months long argument with Sallie Mae (now Navient) I have to face the reality that the misrepresented her loan when I co-signed and I will be responsible for the remaining balance of her debt. At multiple people’s suggestion, I have opened a Go Fun Me Campaign to try and offset the burden of this underhanded bullshit for Sallie Mae. If you can spare anything at all, it would greatly help me and my family. The situation is this. I co-signed, being told by the representative that I would be responsible if she went bankrupt or otherwise could not pay, but NOT upon death. When I provided proof of her death to Sallie Mae (now Navient), I was told “this is not the type of loan we signed.” Apparently we should have paid for extra protection or something that certainly was NOT made clear at the time we signed. I have desperately tried to challenge this for 6 months now, but I have lost. This is the worst timing too as I am expecting a child and if you are American, you know we DO NOT HAVE PAID MATERNITY LEAVE. So my husband and I are losing half our income for several weeks, paying for a new baby, and now suddenly paying for a third person’s student loan. This is emotionally devastating for me as well as financially painful. And I know if Chrissy were here, she would be reigning hell down upon Sallie Mae, because she was trying so damn hard to become more self reliant so I wouldn't’ have to look after her and a new baby. The idea that something of her would be a problem for me now would have infuriated her. So right, all that said, please if you can, help me and my family out so we can get rid of this debt ASAP, before it has a chance to hurt us. If nothing else, please help spread the word. Thank you so much I am reblogging this just to give it this one more push before the 31st. My Go Fund Me site: http://www.gofundme.com/xqrtakIf we can raise the full amount before then, we can make a one time payment that save us about $300 ( ie that $1353 is not the full amount owed but 15% off the full amount, which only applies if we make the full payment all at once). We find ourselves even more in a bind before, because of complications from my son’s birth. My son was born with pulmonary hypertension possibly due to pneumonia, and we spent 7 days in the NICU. If you know American Healthcare, you know that even with insurance, this bill will suck-big time- so any last minute help getting this loan off our backs would very much help. Any extra past the goal will go to our Thomas Henry’s medical bills. Also, another way you could help would be buying something from my etsy site:https://www.etsy.com/shop/GalacticDustBunniesOr off my website storeGalacticdustbunnies.comI can’t offer commissions though because I am struggling to finish those I have now. My apologies :(Thank you to everyone who donated and/or signal boosted this. Your support has already put us im a hugely better position and my husband and I are so thankful!! -- source link
