magicclam:Made more progress on the Zenith radio over the weekend. I got the new dial-belt mounted. Also finished the electrical replacements. You can see what was done in the first 3 pics. I powered it up, and now I’ve got reception! However… the tuning capacitor still has 1 old rotted grommet and I think it occasionally grounds itself out to the chassis because sometimes I just lose the AM band all together. New grommet is supposed to arrive today. If it does, might try replacing it and seeing whether that fixes the problem.Last 2 pics show the start of a battery-powered AM transmitter. Watched a video from Gregg’s Vintage Workshop and he built one of these. It looked like a fun project, and I had most of the parts on hand. I grabbed some perf-board and laid out the parts. Gregg had made his using point-to-point wiring, so my layout is a bit different, but once a few parts arrive, I’ll be able to fire it up and test it. :)Seems like I’m always waiting for parts these days.Stay tuned for more vintage fun!Vintage radios can be work! -- source link
