cookingwithroxy:siryouarebeingmocked:noblepeasant:siryouarebeingmocked:ad-post-it:capitalism-and-analytics:In a time when most Americans walk less than 5 mph, Olympic sprinters should not exist./sGotta love how these rich and powerful people keep telling us that rich and powerful people are evil, but only the rich and powerful people who go against their specific politics.I think that’s one of my problems with the slogan “eat the rich,” it’s uncompromising and imprecise, and somehow unironically used by pretty much every political party. What amount of money concsistently makes someone inherently evil? Or maybe, just maybe, what you find morally reprehensive is what they do with their money rather than the fact that they have money? The far-left consistently say that all billionaires are necessarily evil. Down from that, though, it gets fuzzy. They seem to think that all landlords are ‘rich’, of course. It’s a little more complicated than that.In Marxist economic terms, you have two distinct classes: the proletariat and the bourgeoise. The porletariat are people who making a living through their labour while the bourgeoise make a living through controlling the means of production. In simple terms, proles make money by selling their time and skills to the boog, and the boog make money by owning all the shit the proles need to live and work. The reason that far-lefties hate landlords is because even a poor landlord is considered bourgeoise. He owns a house he doesn’t live in, and he makes his money by renting it to someone else. He doesn’t work for a living, he just owns something someone else needs to use. It isn’t their wealth that’s the problem, it’s how they make their wealth. This is also why a lot of far-lefties don’t have a problem with actors and the like: an actor is still a prole even if he’s a millionaire, because he makes his money through his labour. It’s funny how they seem to have little problem with ‘intellectual labour’ like writing or art, but running a factory doesn’t count.Well, to be fair, if they truly understood the concepts of (and effort needed to maintain) logistics, supply, or management of resources both manpower and physical? They wouldn’t be commies in the first place. -- source link
