Inktober #13 - TEEMINGteem verb \ ˈtēm \1a: to become filled to overflowingb: to be present in large quantityClick for the full-size version.I racked my brain for this one, and it’s definitely a departure from the linework style I’ve used for most of the month. This one leans heavily on Kyle Webster’s ‘conceptual’ tools - the stars and the grass were made with brushes he created. The trees in the background (can you even see them?) were made by hand, as were the lightning bugs. Animated in Photoshop - it’s been a really long time since I made a gif outside of After Effects. It brought me back to what started my Tumblr journey in the first place. Anyway, as a kid, I used to love going outside on a hot summer night with a glass jar to catch fireflies. I’d poke holes in the top, put some grass and sticks in and do my best to collect as many as I could. Blame the Flintstones for making me think if I caught enough they’d actually serve as a serviceable light source. I think the most I caught was close to 50, and while it looked really cool, a flashlight is really the way to go if that’s what you’re looking for. Bioluminescence is so cool. For more information on why and how they do it, check out this Scientific American article. -- source link
