Standard Arms Model GThe first commercially produced gas operated semi-automatic rifle, the Standard Arms Model G was produced between 1909 and 1911. They were chambered for .30 Remington and were known for their incredible quality and workmanship. Every Model G produced included cast brass decorative butt plates and pump. On the end of the gas tube was a cut off switch, which would disable the gas system and make the rifle pump action only. While well made and fine looking, these rifles were expensive and susceptible to fowling. Standards Arms Co. would go out of business in 1911, only being in business for two years. -- source link
