bards-rights-activist:chewbacca:The Witcher, 2019#it took this post for me to connect the hirikka’s gold eyes to geralt because i’m dumb#we see geralt identify with the monsters throughout the show#(his speech where he refers to the striga as ‘an overgrown abortion’ particularly sticks out#because that 100% aligns with how he talks about his relationship to visenna in the books)#and it’s not long after this that we get geralt talking about dragons#and that miserable far-off look when he talks about how ‘they met the same fate as anything too different to endure. they died out’#and there’s two edges to this right?#because it’s A) indicative of geralt’s self-conceptualization as a monster#but also B) indicative of his tremendous capacity for empathy toward the ‘monsters’ he’s often asked to kill#not to mention his inability to hold any of that compassion for himself#whew#anyway#now i’m sad#i know what boils down to ‘geralt thinks he’s a monster’ isn’t like some revolutionary take lol#but this particular touch of the decapitated monster with eyes not unlike geralt’s is a pretty stunning touch#i love this show#geralt of rivia#the witcher#poor little hirikka @reinvent-and-believe -- source link
