My broccoli is under attack!! While weeding the other day I spotted this Cabbage White Butterfly (Pieris rapa) unscrupulously and completely unabashedly laying eggs all over my prized foliage. Closer inspection led to the discover of the eggs themselves and some startlingly well-developed (at least 2nd instar) caterpillars. Luckily there are plenty of Paper Wasps (Polistes spp.) flying around, hopefully they can help me out.Side note, check out that aphid in the bottom right pattern! I’m thinking Brevicoryne brassica, but can’t be sure without letting it produce apterous offspring (spoilers I won’t be). -- source link
