megapope:rosspetersen:1911 Baker Electric Coupe at America’s Car Museum in Tacoma, Washington. The Baker Motor Vehicle Company produced electric cars in Cleveland, Ohio between 1899 and 1914. In 1906, they were the largest electric car company in the world. They merged with another Cleveland automotive company called Rauch and Lang in 1914 to become Baker, Rauch and Lang (aka Baker Raulang). This particular Baker was powered by 12 six-volt batteries - 6 in the front compartment and 6 in the rear. Its phone booth-like body style was known as the “inside drive coupe”.oddly enough Mr. Baker was killed in a duel after insulting the honor of a man who said that his diving bell would not have been able to extract some local ragamuffins out of a Siamese cave -- source link
