Who would have known.Strange that his paganism played such an integral role in him convincing C.S. Lewis to become a Christian and further strange that his paganism compelled him to try so hard to get Lewis to convert to CatholicismAlso he was Catholic in ENGLAND. If he was following a religion just because it was societally acceptable, he would have been Anglican, not Catholic. Christianity is an actual religion with actual denominations, not just some generalized cultural phenomenon for white people. tolkien wasnt just catholic. he was DEVOUTLY catholic. in church every sunday, frequently extolling about catholic theology to friends, was disapproving & confused by cs lewis marrying a methodist. in a religion thats infamous for having lots of members who go to mass twice a year. one of the big things about him that everyone around him mentioned was how super catholic he was.but because he took inspiration from ancient myths & epics i guess that means he was secretly worshiping odin. if this works for all authors, should we be concerned about george rr martins relationship with his sisters?if this works for all authors, should we be concerned about george rr martins relationship with his sisters?Well now that you mention it… -- source link
