totallytransformed: “Oh, I didn’t realize you were awake, sweetheart,” your girlfriend says, surprised, as she opens the door. You spin in place, feeling the strange bars around you. Are you in a nursery?! What the hell is going on? You push at the bars, but they won’t budge. Your bedroom is completely changed: the walls are painted, your desk is gone, and in its place are countless baby toys and infantile furniture. You try to speak, but the words simply won’t come. You can’t make the sounds you want, instead just a string of babyish babble pours forth from your mouth. “Uh huh, you’re a very good talker, sweetpea,” she says, barely paying attention as she busies herself about the room, “now let mommy check that little diaper of yours, okay?” Dropping the rail of the crib, she slips two fingers under the elastic of your diaper without a moment’s warning. You jump at her touch, struggling to escape–you’re not a baby! “Now, now, lay still, mommy has to change that diaper! You used to be big, but mommy knew you were too stupid to be a real grown up, so she made you all little inside, isn’t that what you’ve always wanted? No more career, no more car, no more big thoughts, just playing in your diapers for mommy, okay?” For a moment, you fight, until suddenly, the life goes out of you and you lie still for your mommy. Maybe this…maybe this is what you’ve always wanted? A life without responsibility, a second chance. Gurgling, clapping your feet together mindlessly, you giggle as your mommy untapes your diaper there on your crib mattress, babbling when the cool air hits your exposed, wet bottom.
