These times were rough for black people, these symbols remind us and all Americans about awful, horrifying times and they’re still trying to say something good about it. I mean, people are risking everything to take these flags down like Bree Newsome, the woman who who climbed a flag pole in Columbia, S.C. to remove the Confederate flag or a Black Lives Matter leader who goes by Muhiyidin d'Baha, followed in Newsome’s footsteps by performing a Confederate flag takedown of his own – and it was all caught on a live CBS broadcast.
