blackbrownuniverse:Family & Occasions If you didn’t know, I’m from a Sri Lankan background, so here’s me in our traditional occasion attire We’ve got a lot of events coming up throughout this year and I love getting to dress up in something different and embrace my culture despite being born and brought up in the UK. Often times though, these events can be long, noisy and tiring but getting the chance to spend time together as a family is so rare and is something I try to cherish. CFS has taught me that life is short, our seasons change and you never know what’s around the corner. I don’t always push myself to go to these things but make more of an effort now than I used to. When I was initially diagnosed with ME/CFS, I was quite distant from most of my family in fear of being misunderstood; I already had a hard time getting my parents to understand the condition let alone anyone else! I still am misunderstood often, but I’m now trying to at least acknowledge it and bring it up when I need to in conversation, whereas before I just acted like everything was the same and that I was fine. This has helped me a lot, even to just accept and acknowledge it within myself. Model: @sarusatk ME/CFS Page: @faithandcfs -- source link
