A Roman coin with images of Antoninus Pius and AnnonaAnnona was a godess of grain supply to the city of Rome. I guess that this is also a pretty good example of imperial propaganda. After all it was emperor’s duty/task/”prerogative” to provide free grain to his subjects in Rome…. Consequently Annona’s and ruling emperor’s - whoever it was - images were used rather extensively in this context. -- source link
