A Roman silver coin with image of king Ancus Marcius. The coin was issued in 56 BCE by consul Lucius Marcius Philippus, member of House Marcia, who claimed that the fourth Roman king was their ancestor. Reverse side has a texture “PHILIPPVS / A-Q-V-A MAR MAR in Ligatur”. The consul wanted probably to tout that Marcii had provided fresh water to the city.https://bayern.museum-digital.de/index.php?t=objekt&oges=1094&cachesLoaded=trueProvenance/Rights: Munzsammlung, Universität Würzburg / Marc Philipp Wahl [CC BY-NC-SA] -- source link
