Guillermo del ToroThese are the best tags @puddle–wonderful @thetravelerwrites Blessed post.i love this soo much and its a wonderful movie. but one thing i would like to say is that she is not disabled. she is mute, mute people and deaf people are NOT dissabled! they can do everything a hearing person can do except hear/talk. people need to relize Deaf and mute people or people that are hard of hearing can do anything and everything they want to. saying someone that is Deaf or mute has a disability, is like saying someone who doesnt speak English has a disability. people that are Deaf and mute are made to seem like they are helpless people that cant do anything at all. but thats not true! alot of people try to “fix” deafness in their children, but thats not right because thats who their child is, instead they should work to understand their child and help them understand more about them self and the amazing comunity of Deaf and mute people around them! i totaly went off on a rant sorry. but i think that more people need to know about this. but this movie is amazing and awesome and so beautifully put together. Um…..As a person who is HOH and has had a speech impairment for the last 30 years, I can tell you with great confidence that being deaf and mute are disabilities. They are conditions which hinder a person’s ability to communicate, understand, and be understood and can negatively affect their every day life. Are you also saying blindness isn’t a disability? What exactly is your definition of a disability? If you are not deaf/HOH or mute/speech disabled, please do not comment on what is or isn’t a disability in our community. -- source link
