The .30-06 Triplex,An experiment conducted in the 1950’s, the SALVO program was an attempt by Army Ordnance to successfully create duplex (two bullet) and triplex (three bullet) ammunition that was safe and practical. One creation was the .30-06 Triplex. Using a standard .30-06 casing, the cartridge was loaded with three superimposed 60 grain .30 caliber bullets. Unfortunately the SALVO program never produced any meaningful results and the project was scrapped in 1961. -- source link
