This date in wrestling history: October 5, 1997 - the WWF gained and lost as the Hell In A Cell match concept was debuted at In Your House: Bad Blood with an memorable match between Shawn Michaels and The Undertaker. This match is notorious for two reasons: 1) it debuted the Kane character, portrayed by Glen Jacobs who flubbed as both Dr Issac Yankem and the fake Diesel. 2) it was the match that led to the infamous “Montreal Screwjob” match at Survivor Series between Michaels and Bret Hart. WWF also lost because it was the day of the tragic death of Brian Pillman. He was supposed to face Goldust that night, but was found dead in his hotel room.
