Welcome to February- there are a ton of cool books coming! As always, you can check under the cut for more on each!Fat Chance, Charlie Vega by Crystal Maldonado is a body positive, POC led coming of age that I’ve already had the pleasure of reading. Charlie Vega is a fantastic character who makes every part of this story feel fresh and new, and she’s a joy to root on.Fireheart Tiger by Aliette de Bollard is being marketed as a Vietnamese Howl’s Moving Castle mixed with The Goblin Emperor so… what else do you really need, right? It’s also queer! The Echo Wife by Sarah Gailey is the newest book by Gailey, so is obviously going to be incredible. It’s about a scientist whose husband cheats on her… with her clone… who he created by stealing her research. (Jerry! Jerry!)No One is Talking About This by Patricia Lockwood gives a dramatic and surreal tilt to social media and the existential horror of, well, basically the world we’re currently living in. After living through a year like 2020, I feel like this book is going to be both cathartic and really relatable. We Are the Fire by Sam Taylor is an epic fantasy about horrifically transformed/mutilated magical soldiers. I love morally gray books and monstrous characters so I’m super pumped! The Valley and the Flood by Rebecca Mahoney I’ve already read and absolutely loved. This is a magical realism book about grief, PTSD, and intrusive thoughts mixed with the southern gothic vibe of a desert town too close to the thinnest parts of the veil. It’s so human and so beautifully written. I genuinely want everyone to read this book!See you next month~ Let me know your thoughts if you read any of these books! -- source link
