Catalunya has been a part of a unified Spain since just after the days of Los Reyes Catholicos (Ferdinand & Isabella), longer than Scotland has been a component of the United Kingdom. Like Scotland, Catalunya has a distinctive culture and history, but it also has a distinctive and widely spoken language, Catalan.
