A sunny day during a relatively mild January found this Eastern Chipmunk (Tamias striatus) making an appearance in a snow-covered woodland. This is unusual and something I have not seen before. I watched as it nibbled on some snow to gain a bit of liquid, while much of the time it attempted to keep its front paws warm by holding them out of the snow cover. -- source link
