The Temple of Hathor, historically called the Temple of Tentyra, in the Dendera temple complex, is one of the best preserved temples in Egypt. There has been a temple on the site as far back as the Middle Kingdom, but the present temple was probably built under the late Ptolemaic dynasty, with modifications to the site continuing until the reign of the Roman emperor Trajan. Hathor was an Ancient Egyptian sky-goddess who personified joy, feminine love, and motherhood. She was commonly represented as a cow goddess, with a headdress of horns in which a sun disk with the Uraeus, a stylized depiction of an Egyptian cobra, is set. The Ancient Greeks identified Hathor with Aphrodite, and the Romans with Venus. -- source link
