NYCC 18 Saturday Deadly Class panel Executive produced by the Russo Brothers (Captain America: WS, Avengers Infinity War)…based on 2014 comic book by Rick Remender and its about a prep school training their students to be assassins/murderers. I think I was sold right before the panel started when Adolescents “Kids of the Black Hole” (RIP Steve Soto) was playing over a montage of character portraits on the screen. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e1b0NO_Gtck Anyways we were treated to a screening of the pilot which surprisingly was pretty “deep” considering the plot (as stated above). I like the fact that.. -it takes place in 1987….fills my void of my 80s set shows (The Americans and Halt and Catch Fire which are sadly gone) -punk rock vibe to it…not too mention there are some punk rock kids in it (one of them gives Marcus a tour of the “cliques” in the school —>kids of FBI agents sent to the school; “white power” kids sent there too; kids in the Mafia sent there…etc.). And Henry Rollins plays a teacher (teaching how to poison someone)…so you can’t go wrong. -Lana Candor is MUCH better utilized here than she was in X-Men: Apocalypse -And the music! I think I might’ve heard some Iron Maiden “NUmber of the Beast” (a little bit) and there was Echo and the Bunnymen “The Killing Moon”. And I think I heard from one of the panelists TSOL might be heard in a future episode? Count me in for that….and the teaser they showed at the panel https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LDfTth9ea1Q -- source link
