I’ve been hearing from relatives down in Sussex about their experiences in supermarkets during COVID-19, and what others have told them.A neighbour of an uncle had an entire trolley of food stolen. Left the trolley by his car, went to unlock and open the boot, turned round to find everything gone. A cousin who is disabled was asked by a stranger if she wanted help carrying one of her shopping bags on the way out of the store; he then ran off with it. The shop to their credit replaced what was lost free of charge. The same cousin (not sure if it was the same visit) who is in her 40s went to one of these special elderly or disabled only openings and was being moaned at by elderly people there because she didn’t look elderly! It’s not just for you! Somebody even moaned at her for having two packs of toilet rolls! 2! There was a punch up between customers inside Waitrose in East Grinstead, and in one of the other supermarkets around there. On a more positive note, an aunt with health issues has had offers from neighbours to do her shopping, as has a family friend who’s almost housebound. So it’s not all bad, but……….fff -- source link
