americanwizarding:Every young wizard knows the tales of that swashbuckling sorcerer, Captain John Razor, the greatest magical pirate to ever sail the eleven seas.* Expelled from Hogwarts in 1703 for excessive dueling and crippling a vaunted scion of the ancient and noble House of Black, John took the sea at the tender age of 15. By 18 he had taken to piracy, and by 21 he was the captain of his own vessel, The Sea Hag, and had gathered around him as motley and wondrous a crew as could be squeezed into the brightly colored pages of a child’s story book. First there was beautiful Helga Hezinki, the Hag of Helsinki, whose terrible iron teeth could bite through musket barrels and dent cannon balls. She was John’s second-in-command, and some say his lover, though the captain would neither confirm nor deny it. She was only one who could keep Fretta, the ship’s poltergeist, at bay. Then there was Morton Belstein, whose half-giant blood was overshadowed only by the fact that his father was a Jew, and was thus shunned by the polite society of dry land. Morton’s great strength was matched only by the depths of his compassion and his gentle nature, and it could never be said the hulking man would ever use his fists if his mellow words would suffice. Proteus Nott was the most dashing of the lot, dressed like a peacock and beloved of men and women alike. It is said it was Nott who bewitched Blackbeard’s dark mane to fizzle and spark, and that he never forgave Ann Bonny for stealing Calico Jack from him. Deep in the depths of The Sea Hag was an iron cage where Proteus was sentenced when the curse that caused his disinheritance from his prestigious family overpowered him once a month.Theodore Veidt, the swashbuckling squib, was never out of the company of Flora and Fauna Avernus, a pair of Veela he had rescued from a life of prostitution on Tortuga. The women would never again submit to the hand of any man, but they loved Theodore for saving them from bondage, and the Captain and his crew for giving them a home upon the waves. The three were the ship’s fiercest warriors, and no navy-man or rival buccaneer could stand against their steel and claw and fearsomeness fire. Finally, standing upon the prow, bare-chested and inscrutable, was old Papa Night, who had no name and claimed no memory of times gone past. The Captain sprung him from the bowels of an otherwise empty slave ship, where he’d been bound up with silver and steel, with salt rubbed in his skin and his feet submerged in a crate of white sand. Grey haired and darker than a storm tossed sea, Papa Night refused to take a wand to hand, but he could sing up a wind from still air, and knew the secret language of birds, so he was welcome amongst the crew. Many others came and went, but at the heart was always Captain Razor and his merry band of outcasts. They pillaged ports, and attacked slavers, and stuck it to the pureblood bastards that ran the shore whenever possible. Their’s was truly a life of gold and glory, until one fateful evening in the cold months of 1730, when the Captain and his crew were beset by several frigates of the line, led by a coalition of Caribbean sorcerers who took quite badly to John’s raiding on their cargos and ports. The Sea Hag sunk, and took its crew with her, all save for Captain John Razor, who washed up on a pitiful island off the shores of Georgia, and died there alone. It wasn’t the end of his story, of course. The Captain was a strong willed man, and a spiteful one, and his soul sat on that stony outcrop until one day a dark skinned lady came calling, and proposed that he needed some company. The Allegiance Academy was founded on that rocky outcrop not long after, and Captain Razor has been the school’s faithful specter ever since, helping watch over the young witches and wizards he sees as the best heirs to his former life of rebellion and adventure.*Three of the eleven have since been hidden from Muggles, for their own good. The last has, sadly, been misplaced since 1835.Ooops. Meant to publish this here.(Image Source: http://gremlindog.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2008/10/pirates.jpg) -- source link
