mayevenyou:Of Maegelin is a chapter that works best for me when you imagine that The Silmarillion was written after the fact, by elven historians. Of course they couldn’t believe that the marriage of Eol and Aredhel started honestly. But I reckon that any woman who sets off to travel Middle Earth alone knows her own mind, and certainly does’t marry people just because they lured her into their house. She went out and got her a piece of Elven strange, and good for her, even if it ended, well, rather badly. To celebrate the White Lady, I’ve got a cocktail that’s also controversial - I own a cocktail book that says the legendary Harry MacElhone created it in London in 1919, but according to wiki many argue this point. Either way, it’s a delicious and strong little drink - with a sour finish, like a poisoned javelin to the heartAREDHEL - A WHITE LADY (serves one.)1 shot gin1 shot Triple Sec / Cointreau1 shot lemon juiceShake over ice, drain into a cocktail glass, and drink to unfortunate love.
